Compact and intelligent power converter for electric vehicle power trains
Project description
It is based on 3 main lines of research and development: 1) optimization of power density and specific power through the use of wide bandgap semiconductors; 2) improving the efficiency of energy transfer between the power source and the traction elements through the design of the power electronics hardware, as well as the implementation of inclusive control algorithms of the entire power train for different types of electrical machines; 3)predictive maintenance through monitoring to detect failures or aging of the main elements. At the end of the project, the following results are expected to be achieved: a) design of the electrical converters of a power train with high power density; b) new control algorithms that allow maximizing the energy of the power train in both traction and regenerative braking, considering both a low and high speed operating regime; c) new algorithms for monitoring the life status of electrical power converters to perform predictive maintenance tasks.
